Competitive Cycling for Life
Sunny conditions and only a light breeze are expected to greet riders at the VTTA National 100-Mile Championship, being staged by Hounslow and District Wheelers in Hampshire on Sunday.
An increase in entries on last year mean there will be 62 riders competing, with some of the best veterans in the country heading to Hampshire for the event on the H100/88 course near Froyle.
This is the 70th edition of a historic and popular event, which this year is also the 57th Ron Brown Memorial event too as well as being the VTTA national title race. Headquarters are at Bentley Memorial Hall.
Last year’s VTTA title winners are both taking part with Naomi de Pennington (Drag2Zero, pictured) and Mick Stevens (Melton Olympic CC) both entered.
76-year-old Stevens will need to be on top form to retain his title with last year’s runner-up and third placed riders Matthew Uttley and Peter Younghusband also down to compete in the Hounslow and District Wheelers event.
Similarly, Chris Murray (HUUB WattShop) and Kathryn Smith (Sleaford Wheelers) are both hoping to improve on second and third on age-adjusted times respectively in 2025.

A report from this event will be published shortly afterwards on the VTTA website and Facebook.
