Now we are a good way into the racing season, Ian Greenstreet takes a look back at the new age records set at both time trials and track events so far in 2025, with performances from across the country and in a variety of ages and distances.

Open Time Trials – highlights include:
•    10 Mile: Alexander Munro (92, SVTTA) clocked 30:08 at Southport CC, while Kevin Tye (63, VeloRefined Rule 5) flew round the F11/10 in 19:16.
•    100 Mile: Both Anthony Jones (51, VMCC powered by Y Beic – 3:30:32) and Christopher McNamara (50, Sigma Sports – 3:28:39) set age records.
•    12 Hour: Michael Stevens (75) recorded 238.47 miles, while Jon Fairclough (71) went even further with 364.11 miles.
•    24 Hour: Standout rides from Brian Hygate (87 – 258.61 miles) and Doug Hart (52 – 487.11 miles) highlighted the endurance categories.

Female Time Trials – highlights include:
•    10 Mile: Linda Dewhurst (66) recorded 21:19 on the F11/10, with Jen Clegg (71) stopping the clock at 24:38.
•    25 Mile: Sarah Matthews (65) set a time of 55:29.
•    50 Mile: Both Matthews (2:01:19) and Clegg (2:18:12) established new marks.
•    100 Mile: Naomi de Pennington (48) achieved 3:46:37.
•    12 Hour: Kathryn Smith (71) logged 211.18 miles, with de Pennington pushing further to 276.72 miles.

Mixed Tandem – the only National TT tandem recorded so far:
There was also a national age record-breaking ride for Ian Greenstreet & Gwen Kinsey (combined age 111) who stormed to a 19:53 on the F11/10.

Track Records – Thanks to an excellent event at Caird Park, Dundee, riders took full advantage of the joint CTT Scotland and VTTA Track Day:
•    Open 5km records ranged from Alexander Munro (92 – 10:10.8) through to Douglas Watson (52 – 6:18.5).
•    For the women, Liz Ball (71) recorded 8:24.2, with Christina Mackenzie (48) stopping the clock at 7:50.5.
•    Tandem efforts also shone, with John & Lorna Lumley (121 combined age) riding to 7:34.9, while Allan Maclean & Isobel Fletcher (124) paired up for 8:03.5.
