Many of the best veteran time trailers are heading to Cheshire this weekend for the VTTA National 15-Mile Championship, organised by the VTTA Manchester and North West Group.
The event has attracted a strong field of riders across the ages, who are chasing medals and glory in the age-adjusted time categories as well as gold medals for the best club team and VTTA group teams.
The women’s entries include Debbie Moss (Springfield Financial RT) as well as Legato Racing Team pair Deb Hutson-Lumb and Susan Semple, who could help Legato to the team award.
And there’s also the evergreen Jen Clegg (Team Bottrill) who, at 71, could challenge the younger riders on age-adjusted times.
In the open field there’s Team Ohten Aveas rider Richard Oakes as well as his team-mate Mike Twelves, while 75-year-old Michael Lythgoe (Legato RT) could push them on age-adjusted times.
Oakes placed second last year behind Linda Dewhurst who isn’t riding this time, and will be aiming to go one better, while Twelves and Lythgoe were third and fourth in 2024 and will similarly want to step up.
Saturday’s event near Goostrey starts at 2pm, while the final few riders will go at 3.40pm.
There are no cash prizes at this event, with proceeds from the event instead going to Martin Harney, who was involved in an accident in February and left with serious injuries.
