Hot on the heels of the VTTA National 100-Mile Championship this weekend sees riders tackle the 50-mile title race, with some of the best veterans targeting medals and records as they head to Cumbria for the event on Sunday.
VTTA North Lancs and Lakes Group are organising the event which uses the L5012 out and back course between Braithwaite and Cockermouth.
While 2025 champion Deb Hutson-Lumb (Legato RT) returns to defend her female title, there will be a new champion in the open category with last year’s winner Cris Coxon not riding.
Competition for Hutson-Lumb will come in many forms, with others including Joanna Cebrat (360cycling), Debbie Moss (Springfield RT) and Liz Ball (Edinburgh RC) all aiming for the win.
There is also a strong field for the open category with Legato Racing Team having several strong riders including Mike Lythgoe, Simon Horsley, Steve Lorraine and Alastair Semple.
And watch out for the tandem pairing of Norman Harvey and Mary Corbett (Sotonia CC) who will be aiming at age-related records as well as national title glory.
A report from this event will be published shortly afterwards on the VTTA website and Facebook.
