2025 champion Linda Dewhurst (Cheltenham and County CC) returns to defend her title at the VTTA National 25-Mile Championships, which is being staged in Cambridgeshire by the VTTA East Anglian Group on Saturday.
A new open category champion will be crowned with last year’s winner Steve Cottington not competing, and there are plenty of top names heading to St Ives in search of glory in the 2026 event.
The event uses the F2/25d course, which is essentially two and a half circuits from Hardwick, through Madingley and on to Cambourne.
Team Ohten’s Richard Oakes is down to compete, as is the man he tied with at the National 10 Chris Lord (Brighton Excelsior CC), and third in that event earlier this year, Mike Lythgoe (Legato RT) too.
All three riders from the VTTA women’s National 10 are competing here too, with Jen Clegg (Team Bottrill Nopinz) hoping to repeat her victory, although she faces competition from Deborah Hutson-Lumb as well as Dewhurst, and a host of other strong female riders.
The tandem category looks to be competitive too, with Mary Corbett and Norman Harvey (Sotonia CC) looking to repeat their win in the 2026 National 10, while also down to ride are Ian Greenstreet and Melanie Sneddon (Newbury Velo) and Newmarket C&TC’s David Cheshire and Rob Boyle.
A report from this event will be published shortly afterwards on the VTTA website and Facebook.
