May Update

With 3 events now taken place in the Midlands district I wanted to share with you the result of the 29 riders who have already participated in at least one open event on a K course, see table below.

This year we have decided to review the way points are awarded following discussions with our friends in Yorkshire (who are now running their own points series), and to see how we might be able to help address the falling numbers of entries in our region.

Points will now be awarded in the following manner – each rider will receive one point for every ride they finish on a K course open event.  The winner in each event will then receive 60 points, second place 59 points, third place 57 points and so on.  So regardless of the number of VTTA members finishing an event the winner will always get 60 points.

This we hope will encourage people not to be deterred from riding any events that traditionally have not attracted a large field of riders and in the old points scoring rules would have meant a much lower score pro rata if you we lucky enough to win on AAT.  For those who want to be more competitive in the series could perhaps target these events,  and by riding a greater number of K course events would give them an added advantage if their points scoring is close to a number of others in the league table. Overall results will be based on a riders best scoring 6 events plus the number of open events they have ridden.  If a draw was to happen then prizes would be awarded of equal value.

Thanks to the continued support from Echelon Cycles which again will enable us to award £500 in prizes to the top ten finishers again this year, so a nice reward for the lucky few at the end of this season.
