The seventh Welland Trophy competition between VTTA and BMCR saw a good and strong field of riders, only  slightly depleted by Covid absences.

Following cancellation of the event in 2020 due to covid, and hail storms last year, the weather was calm with only a slight breeze. The course was in good condition and the herd of cows had already made its way through the village en route to the common, so no major hold ups.

This year the VTTA riders greatly outnumbered those from BMCR (and they were fast) so the trophy went to VTTA again.  It was good to see a strong field of 9 2-up teams, with the Team Bottrill pairing clocking the fastest time on the day, 32:15. VTTA rider Joseph Costello was the winner on Standard, while the men's and women's fastest were both 'youngsters'.

Although there were only three trikes, Wayne Baker had a good ride to record the fastest time in that category.
