Defending female champion Naomi de Pennington (Drag2Zero) secured the 2026 VTTA National 100-Mile Championship title last weekend, while Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined Rule5 Aerosmiths) was the open champion.

Here, VTTA National Executive Committee representative Joy Payne wraps up the action for us.

Sixty-two riders entered the event which was organised by Bruce McMichael of Hounslow and District Wheelers. The day started off hot and got even hotter with temperatures in the high 20s. Although there was little wind, I was told that it did have a slight cooling effect.
Thanks must go to all the marshals and timekeepers who were at the roadside for some time in the blistering heat. Given the weather forecast I was surprised how few riders did not start.
The defending female champion Naomi de Pennington (DRAG2ZERO) added another win to her palmares with an AAT of 3:16:51 and an actual time of 3:47:28 which is a National Age Record.
Silver went to Sarah Matthews (…a3crg) with an AAT of 3:28:43 and actual time of 4:29:44. Kathryn Smith (Sleaford Wheelers CC) received the bronze medal with an AAT of 3:43:55. Her actual time was 5:09:56.
Andrew Meilak (VeloRefinedRule5 Aerosmiths) was the open champion for a second time as he won the event in 2021 when it was held in Kent. This time he achieved an AAT of 3:21:25 and an actual time of 3:41:48.
Peter Younghusband (VTTA Wessex) won the event in 2023 when it was last held on this course but this time came away with silver with an AAT of 3:30:58, actual 3:56:59. The bronze medal went to Matthew Uttley (Team Bottrill) AAT 3:32:09, actual 3:40:53.
Team honours in the club team competition went to FTP (Fulfil the Potential) Race Team with Owen Burgess, Henrik Peterrson and Christian Geldard producing a winning aggregate AAT of 11:17:49. There were no other teams of three entered in the event.
The group team award was won by Wessex with the combined AAT of Sarah Matthews, Peter Younghusband and Peter Tomlin of 10:34:17. Not far behind them with a combined AAT of 10:36:05 was East Midlands, Matthew Uttley, Mick Stevens and Kathryn Smith.
Only one tandem entered so Mary Corbett and Simon Hall were each presented with a gold medal. Their AAT was 4:01:33 and their actual time was 5:05:21.
As this report has been written before the times have been verified, it is based on provisional results.
