It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend Alan Colburn has passed away. Many of you will know that Alan had faced a difficult year, with several falls and a gradual decline in his health. He passed away peacefully just a couple of days before Christmas.

At the request of Margaret Colburn, this news was not shared immediately, as she wished to spare his friends any added sorrow over the festive period. Margaret has now been in touch and asked that we share the details of a gathering to honour Alan’s life.

A Celebration of the Life of Alan Colburn
Saturday 14th March
Great Witley Village Hall, WR6 6HP
2:00–4:30pm

Margaret warmly invites as many of Alan’s cycling friends as possible to come together, share memories, and enjoy some cake — Alan’s favourite treat. She has also asked that everyone wear their cycling colours, a fitting tribute to a man whose love of cycling brought so many of us together.

Let’s gather to remember Alan with the warmth, humour, and friendship he brought into all our lives.

There are not many VTTA members who can say they witnessed both the Queen’s and the King’s coronations. Alan was one of those rare individuals. Over the years he took on many roles within the organisation, including serving as President, and he remained a passionate advocate for competitive cycling throughout his life. His dedication, encouragement, and lifelong commitment to the sport have left a lasting legacy.
