What is the VTTA?

The Veterans Time Trials Association (VTTA) promotes racing against the clock for riders over 40.

How do I join?

You can find out more about joining on the Membership page . This page also explains how you can enter for VTTA awards and competitions.

Why Join?

Whilst most CTT events are run purely on actual time, as a VTTA member your race times are ‘age adjusted’ to level the playing field across all ages. The table below is a quick comparision of VTTA benefits with only riding as a CTT registered rider.

CTT riders

In addition, for VTTA members

Your race results are your actual times, regardless of your age. You’re racing against riders often much younger than yourself.

Your race times are ‘age adjusted’ to account for your age. The CTT and VTTA provide separate 'leaderboards' of results on Age Adjusted Tme (AAT)

Your actual times count towards the Traditional BBAR and Short Distance BBAR.

Your age-adjusted times count towards our three season long competitions : VTTA BAR (50 and 100 miles and 12 hours),  3 Distance (25,50, and100 miles) and Short Distance (2*10 miles and 2*25 miles)

You can enter VTTA events, but you can’t win a prize.

You can enter VTTA events, AND win a prizes on age adjusted time.

You’re racing against the best if you want a Group or a National record.

Qualify to set age records from 40 to 93 at VTTA Group and National level on the  road and on the track.

Download the CTT v VTTA article here.

If you go faster in a season compared to your previous best age adjusted time then you qualify for a ‘Personal Performance Award’ (known as a 'Standard Award' prior to 2026). You can win these awards at each of the 'standard' time trialling distances every year (10,15,25,30,50 and 100 miles and 12 and 24 hours).

If you ride a VTTA Group event or National Championship event, it’s your Age Adjusted Time (AAT) which is used for the results.

The VTTA maintains the UK’s time trialling age records. To get a record you need to beat the best actual time for your age at any of the 'standard' distances. There are Group records and National records,

News and updates on all of the above, and much more, are circulated to members each quarter in The Veteran magazine.
