The third of the weekly 10 mile time trials took place on Saturday 2nd May where we are inviting VTTA members to enter the Newbury Velo event on Zwift. With some of our European neighbours coming out of lockdown this week, we were a little short of company from continental Europe, but with 700 riders on the start list, the domestic competition was fierce.

This week, we were blessed with the company of 86-year-old Derek Hodgins. Derek is an ex-Masters World Hour Record Holder as well as being World Master Pursuit Champion. Derek crossed the line with an event record plus of +10:29. Second place went to Tim Davies with a plus of +6:42, with new member Jon Stroud taking third place just five seconds back with +6:37. Jon is a supremely talented rider in the real world who has joined the VTTA because of the Zwift time trials - we very much look forward to see him coming along to some of our real events once we're out of lockdown.

Amongst the ladies, it was Jen Magill who took the honours this week with a plus of +2:59, with Jenny Newton in second place with +2:36 whilst London & Home Counties Jan Farmer took the bronze with -1:51.

We are running a standards league so the best standards achieved in the event will be noted over the course of the year. Derek Hodgins is now leading the men and the overall with a plus of +10:29 and Deb Lumb is leading the ladies with a plus of +5:47. Full league results are here:
