EVENT
National VTTA Championship 10 mile - 19 June 2010
This promotion for the North Group by the Hartlepool CC was a fine example for anyone of how to run an important race. John Grant and his team put on a superb event which despite a cold and strong N.W. wind was a complete success. There was apparently one glitch in the proceedings when cones suddenly appeared on the 
course overnight. This was overcome with the help of the Tees-side C.T.T. district secretary and no one noticed that there had been a problem. The cones disappeared as if by magic.
The death of an obviously well respected President of the promoting club led to generous sponsorship of the event by his family, leading to a truly outstanding prize list. The prizes were presented by his widow Madge Pailor.
The weather did not help to make conditions fast but there were still some outstanding rides done and all the winners of the different categories were worthy of the accolades they received at the presentation. The biggest problem for Ron Hallam seemed to be to get his medals for the individual and team wins to fit round his neck showing the front of the medals for the photographer. The finish sheet is attached which gives details of all the rides done and all the prize winners.
The weather as seems usual on these occasions was excellent on the days before and after the event. I wonder if this is an omen for the CTT National 10 to be run by the same club next year.
